What to Bring Fishing on Storm Force Sport Fishing trip
1. Fishing License
A valid Illinois or Wisconsin fishing license is required, depending on where the boat will be fishing that day.
You’ll also need a Lake Michigan Salmon/Trout Stamp. These can be purchased online or at most local bait shops.
2. Clothing and Gear
- Non-marking, soft-soled shoes or deck shoes (no boots or hard soles)
- Layered clothing – Mornings can be cool even in summer, and the weather on the lake can change quickly
- Rain jacket or windbreaker – Even if the forecast is dry, it’s best to be prepared
- Hat and sunglasses – A hat for sun protection and polarized sunglasses to reduce glare on the water
3. Sun and Weather Protection
- Sunscreen – SPF 30 or higher is recommended
- Lip balm with SPF
- Bug spray – Not usually needed on the open lake, but bring it just in case
4. Food and Beverages
- Snacks and lunch – Bring whatever food you’d like for the trip
- Drinks – Bottled water, sports drinks, or other non-alcoholic beverages
- Cooler – Leave it in your vehicle to transport your catch home. We provide ice and clean your fish
5. Miscellaneous
- Camera or phone – We recommend a waterproof case or pouch
- Motion sickness medication – Take it at least 1 hour before departure if you’re unsure how you’ll do on the water
- Small backpack or bag – To store your personal items neatly onboard
6. Optional but Helpful
- Towel or rag – For wiping hands
- Ziploc bags – For storing wallet, phone, or valuables
- Tip for the crew – Gratuity is always appreciated. A customary tip is 15–20% of the charter cost
